In this list of the Top 5 National Parks In the USA all 4 of the parks we have already visited are in the Western part of the country and this is the only one that is on the East Coast.

If you have not read the first 4 parts to this final article then you should do so now. It is better that you plan your holiday well so you know everything about all the national parks that way you can make the best decision on which park you would like to go to at some point.

One thing I would like to tell you is that if you really want to get a feel of just how big and spectacular each national park is you need to see it from above. I have had the luxury of being able to see each national park from a helicopter and let me tell you, there nothing like seeing a piece of land that is over 100,000 acres in size from above.

Without further a due one of the biggest and greenest national parks on the list is none other than:

If you have never seen the Great Smoky Mountains National Park then you are in for a treat. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is over 500,000 acres in area and has many attractions that you won't get at any other national park.

The highest point of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is 6,643 feet and is located at the summit of Clingmans Dome. Something that you don't see right off the bat is that there are actually 16 mountains that have a peak that reaches over 6,000 feet. The national park itself is 90% cover in trees which about 36% of that are considered to be trees older than European settlers.

Something that most people don't know about the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is that it was settled by congress back in 1934 and was dedicated to the president in 1940, Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the largest protected piece of land on the Eastern part of the United States by far. Whether you plan to travel and see the Great Smokey Mountains National Park in Tennessee in the winter time or in the summer time you will be blown away. I have seen this park in both seasons and it is breathtaking. Simply seeing that much snow covered trees will make anybody who has a camera a professional instantly and seeing all the different colored leaves and plants in the summer time looks like a rainbow all season long.

Like I have said before, don't take my work for anything you read, you need to see the national parks yourself in order to get the full experience of them. Each national park has something different to offer whether it is the fresh water lake in the Olympic National Park or the Huge Sequoia Trees at Yosemite National Park. Make sure sometime in the near future you see every park on the list because you can't appreciate something you have never seen.
