5. Olympic National Forest
The Olympic National Forest is located in Washington State and is 633,677 acres and almost surrounds the entire Olympic Mountain Range and the Olympic National Park. The Olympic National Forest was established in 1897 and originally named Olympic Forest Reserve before changing its name in 1907 to Olympic National Forest which it stays named today.
Something most people don't know about the Olympic National Forest is that it isn't just about hiking; there is so much to do here that you won't want to be anyplace else. One of the most popular places to be inside the Olympic National Forest is to be on Lake Cushman.
Lake Cushman is over 4,000 acres of fresh water running off the mountains nearby. Lake Cushman is a popular place for hiking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and everything you can imagine on a lake of its size. With the recent popularity of the lake many people have constructed houses and lodgings on the rim of the lake for rental purposes so now it is even better that you can actually stay directly on the lake.
